1.ประการแรก การคาดเดาโดยตรง เป็นการใช้คำและสำนวนที่ผู้พูดพูดตรงๆ (Direct Expression or Direct Guess)
2.ประการที่สอง การคาดเดาโดยอ้อม เป็นการใช้คำและสำนวนที่ผู้พูดพูดโดยอ้อม (Indirect Expression or Indirect Guess)

ประโยคหรือสำนวนที่มักใช้บ่อยๆหรือใช้ในการคาดเดาโดยตรง มีดังต่อไปนี้Guess (that)......
