Indirect and reported Questions

Indirect questions (คำถามทางอ้อม) เป็นการถามคำถามแบบสุภาพโดยใช้คำนำหน้า เช่น   "Could you tell me ... ?" หรือ "Do you know....?"   โดยแบ่งได้เป็น 2 แบบ ตามโครงสร้างดังนี้

  
1  Indirect questions with a Question Word 

Can you tell me what time it is?      Do you know what time it is? (ไม่ทราบว่าตอนนี้กี่โมงแล้วครับ)          2  Yes / No Indirect Questions:       Could you tell me whether she is the teacher? Can you tell me if she is the teacher?              ( กรุณาบอกหน่อยได้ไหมคะว่าหล่อนเป็นครูรึเปล่า)  -ข้อควรจำ การใช้ Indirect Questions ประธาน(subject) จะนำหน้า กิริยา (verbs)    Reported question  คือการบอกสิ่งที่คนอื่นพูดไปแล้วให้อีกคนฟัง มักเป็นประโยคบอกเล่าเสมอ  เวลาเราใช้ Reported Question เราต้องเปลี่ยน verb tense เพราะเราพูดถึงเรื่องของคนอื่นในอดีต เช่น             Direct Question: Jeff asks Mary, "Where is Anna?" Reported Question: Mary tells Sally: Jeff asked where Anna was.  ประโยคคำถามที่ขึ้นต้นด้วยกริยาช่วย (Yes/No Questions) เมื่อเปลี่ยนเป็น Reported Speech  ให้ทำดังนี้ 1.1 ใช้กริยานำ คือ ask(ถามว่า), inquire(ถามว่า),wonder(สงสัยว่า),want to know(อยากรู้ว่า) 1.2 ใช้ if หรือ whether เป็นตัวเชื่อม มีความหมายว่า "ใช่หรือไม่" (จะใช้คำใดก็ได้) 1.3 เรียงคำในประโยคให้อยู่ในรูปของประโยคบอกเล่า     เช่น          Direct          : They asked, "Can we leave now?"          Reported     : They asked if they could leave then.      (2.) ประโยคคำถามที่ขึ้นต้นด้วย Question words (Wh- Questions) เมื่เปลี่ยเป็น Reported Speech         ให้ทำดังนี้        1.1 ใช้กริยานำ คือ ask(ถามว่า), inquire(ถามว่า),wonder(สงสัยว่า),want to know(อยากรู้ว่า)       2.2 ใช้ Question words เป็นตัวเชื่อม       2.3 เรียงคำในประโยคให้อยู่ในรูปของประโยคบอกเล่า    เช่น           Direct          : They asked, "Who can speak English?"          Reported     : They asked who could speak English   แบบฝึกหัด    What's the time?" he asked. → He wanted to know ………………….. "When will we meet again?" she asked me. → She asked me ……………………. "Are you crazy?" she asked him. → She asked him …………………… "Where did they live?" he asked. → He wanted to know …………………..
