Linking verb 

Linking verbs คือ กริยาที่ใช้แสดงสภาพ และความรู้สึกของประธาน กริยาชนิดนี้ไม่ต้องการกรรม (object) มารับ แต่ต้องการคำคุณศัพท์ (adjective) และส่วนเติมเต็ม (complement) เพื่อจะมาช่วยให้ประโยคนั้นสมบูรณ์ และมีความหมายชัดเจนยิ่งขึ้น Linking Verbs ที่พบบ่อย ได้แก
                 แบบที่  1          V. to be ทั่วไป

             She is beautiful. (adjective) คำคุณศัพท์

              She is a teacher. (complement) ส่วนเติมเต็ม 

            แบบที่ 2         ใช้รูปแบบ S + V + Adjective.
         รูปแบบการใช้  :      He got angry.
        ความหมายกว้างๆ  คือ กลายเป็น เปลี่ยนสภาพ
          กริยาทีใช้ในรูปนี้      ได้แก่

คำกริยา	ความหมาย	คำกริยา	ความหมาย
Appear	ท่าทาง	Prove	ปรากฏว่า
Become	เกิดขึ้น	Remain	ที่เหลืออยู่แน่ว่า
Consider	พิจารณาว่า	Seem	มีท่าทางว่า
Find	เห็นว่า	Smell	มีกลิ่น
Grow	เกิดขี้น	Sound	ดูเหมือนว่า
Keep	รักษา	Tastes	มีรส
Look	ดูเหมือนว่า	Turn	กลายเป็น
Make	ทำให้

 แบบที่ 3   ใช้บรรยาย หรือ บอกคุณลักษณ์ ของกรรม โดยใช้คำคุณศัพท์ ( Adjectives ) 
             รูปแบบการใช้ :      S + V + N + adjective      
                                 We consider John crazy.       
      ความหมายกว้างๆ  คือ พิจารณาเห็นว่า
      กริยาที่ใช้ในรูปนี้  ได้แก่

คำกริยา	ความหมาย	คำกริยา	ความหมาย
Believe	เชื่อว่า	Keep	รักษา
Consider	เห็นว่า	Leave	ทำให้
Find	เห็นว่า	Like	ชอบ
Have	เตรียม	Make	ทำให้
Hold	ถือว่า	Think	คิดว่า

         รูปแบบการใช้   S + V + it + adjective + to V. 
                  -  We find it difficult to understand Thai.  ความหมายกว้างๆ  คือ พิจารณาเห็นว่า
      กริยาที่ใช้ในรูปนี้  ได้แก่

Find	เห็นว่า
Make	ทำให้	Think	คิดว่า

            He looks exhausted.   They remain impolite.
